5 ovarian diseases that easily cause female infertility

Polycystic status, cysts, failure - inflammation of the ovaries, blocked fallopian tubes are 5 common diseases in the ovaries causing female infertility.

BS.CKII Vu Nhat Khang, Reproductive Support Center of Tam Anh General Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, said that the ovaries are an important reproductive organ of women, responsible for producing estrogen and progesterone. These hormones help with breast development during puberty, regulate the menstrual cycle, and support pregnancy. However, this is also the part that is susceptible to diseases affecting reproductive function.

Polycystic Ovary

According to Dr. Vu Nhat Khang, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a gynecological disease related to hormonal imbalance, which not only reduces fertility but also increases the risk of many other serious diseases. . The disease causes many effects on the ovaries, causing menstrual cycle disorders, increasing male hormone levels, leading to the formation of many small cysts inside the ovaries. Many people do not know they have the disease, so not getting early treatment leads to many complications, including infertility.

Ovarian failure

Ovarian failure is the inability of the ovaries to produce and nourish eggs to maintain reproductive activities in women. The disease makes the female sex hormones unable to maintain and regenerate in time to balance hormones in the female body. For women with ovarian failure, menstrual irregularities and reduced fertility begin before age 40. Sometimes it can begin as early as adolescence.

Causes of ovarian failure are usually due to: Chromosomal defects such as Turner syndrome, toxins (chemotherapy, radiation therapy), autoimmune diseases. In addition, other factors such as age, genetics, surgical intervention on the ovaries, abortion, stimulant use ...

According to Dr. Vu Nhat Khang, for women with ovarian failure, there is currently no intervention method to increase ovarian reserve. However, depending on the degree of ovarian failure and how much AMH is left, doctors can still conduct different methods of assisted reproduction.

Endometrial cancer

Ovarian cyst is one of the common gynecological diseases in women, can occur at any age from girls to menopause, from normal people to pregnant women can have ovarian cysts. . Based on the structure and nature of each tumor, ovarian cysts must be divided into: functional cysts and organic cysts.

Women with ovarian cysts are at risk of direct damage to the ovaries. The tumor grows large, presses on the uterus, hindering the process of egg and sperm meeting to form a zygote.

"Ovarian cysts cause infertility and cancer complications if not treated early," recommended Dr. Nhat Khang.

Ovarian inflammation

Ovarian inflammation is a rare gynecological disease, but the disease has a severe impact on the ovaries and fallopian tubes. The most common cause of inflammation is usually bacteria, the most common being the two bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria - the causative agent of gonorrhea. One of the typical signs of ovarian inflammation is mild to severe spasmodic pain in the lower abdomen.

If not treated promptly, the disease will lead to complications such as ovarian adhesions, blocked fallopian tubes, thereby increasing the possibility of infertility . In addition, the disease can affect many organs in the pelvis, including the uterus, endometrium, and peritoneum.

Fallopian tube inflammation

The fallopian tubes are the passageway for a man's sperm to reach an egg and fertilize it. If the fallopian tubes are infected, fluid stasis, scar tissue formation... causing blockage, it will severely affect a woman's ability to get pregnant. In particular, the egg cannot move to the uterus to implant, thereby leading to an ectopic pregnancy or infertility.
