Metal detector Peter Cross found dentures in March, in a field near Waterstock Mill. "When I first dug it out of the ground, I thought it was sheep's teeth. However, when I started to wipe away the mud, I saw the gold piece came out and knew it was his denture," he recounted.

Cross said that the owner of the teeth is extremely rich. "It was built around 1800-1850 and very expensive. A dentist friend said the teeth cost 200-300 pounds in the 1800s, enough to buy half of the houses in Brill, a prosperous village. that period, "he said.

"I showed the teeth to many people, consulted the British Dental Association and the British Museum. They were all amazed and wanted to take pictures again. It was very unique. I only knew a similar denture. belongs to President George Washington and dates back to the late 1700s, "Cross added.

The teeth will be sold at the auction house Hansons Auctioneers on 25/11, estimated to bring about 3,000-7,000 pounds. Half of the money will be given to the owner of the field in Oxfordshire. Cross receives 25% and metal detector Diana Wild, Cross's companion, receives 25%.

The lower jaw of the denture has not been discovered. Cross has returned to the field many times but may have a lower jaw with no metal, making it harder to find. Experts do not know the cause of this precious denture buried under the field.
